March 29, 2020
Dear Westlake Academy families,
I hope this update finds you and your children doing well and progressing with the distance learning program that began last week. The academic staff team has worked very hard to create a transferable program for our students that will balance the joy of learning with the progress the children need to finish the school year strong. We also understand this is likely uncharted territory for you as a parent, now involved in distance learning. Please know that we understand this time will look and feel different than the traditional school day. We encourage you to reach out to us should you have any questions.
Over the past several weeks, we have had multiple directives relative to school closures from our public health officials, the Governor’s office, and county authorities. We are continuing to monitor these sources and more, plus we are working with our Board of Trustees to ensure we follow the directives and make the best decisions for the health and safety of our students.
Thus, the Academy will remain closed through at least April 17, 2020, and this is also consistent with our surrounding districts.
We thank you for your continued patience and support, and we would like you to know that we are sincere in our offer of assistance and needed help for you and your family especially during this time.
As a reminder: We ask each of you to #DoYourPart to help prevent the spread of disease as recommended by Tarrant County Health Officials by limiting your attendance at social gatherings and events, including play-dates and study groups. Please wash your hands regularly and practice social distancing of at least six feet between individuals. #DoYourDistance.
Respectfully,
Amanda DeGan
Westlake Academy Superintendent & Westlake Town Manager
