The planned closure is part of utility relocation work being conducted by the City of Southlake and Wilson Contractor Services in advance of Phase II of the FM 1938/Davis Blvd. Extension, a partnership between the Texas Department of Transportation and the cities of Keller, Southlake and Westlake.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured west on Johnson and Florence roads and travel north/south on Pearson Lane. Homeowners along the route will see increased traffic on their streets, and Southlake has decided to temporarily change the 2-way stop sign configuration at the Florence/Pearson intersection to a 4-way stop to ensure safety and mitigate the increase in traffic caused by the detour. Police departments for both cities will assist in monitoring the detour route throughout the closure.
The exact duration of this closure is unknown due to the nature of the work being completed, but the City of Southlake expects FM 1938 to reopen for normal operations by Aug. 9 (weather permitting).
For more information, Westlake residents may contact Westlake Public Works Director Jarrod Greenwood at 817-680-1422 or Southlake Project Manager Alex Ayala at 817-748-8274.
