A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Westlake until 6 p.m. Thursday. Freezing rain and drizzle are expected. The National Weather Service anticipates several rounds of precipitation from this morning into tomorrow though heavier impacts are anticipated late this evening and overnight.
Some sleet is possible in thunderstorms. Ice accumulations of one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch are expected. Sleet accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch are also expected. Conditions will deteriorate late tonight into Thursday morning. Elevated roads and bridges may become ice-covered making travel dangerous. Westlake staff are monitoring the streets constantly and will have crews working around the clock starting this morning to ensure the roads around Westlake are safe. Our trucks are loaded with sand and salt and have already spread a layer on internal roads and bridges. TxDOT will be doing the same to our local highways.
We are also working closely with both our Westlake Fire-EMS team and Keller Police to look for trouble spots along our streets. Tree damage and power outages will be possible due to ice so PLEASE BE SAFE!
