Westlake’s Town Secretary's Office has earned the Achievement of Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Clerks Association (TMCA). The Town of Westlake is one of only 24 municipalities out of 595 member cities in Texas to earn the recognition.
The Town Secretary’s Office is an integral department within the Town and oversees the administration of the Town’s elections, prepares council agenda packets and official meeting minutes, manages the records retention and open records request programs, facilitates the boards and commissions appointment process, and more.
Mayor Sean Kilbride recognized Town Secretary Amy Piukana for her exceptional achievement and noted that this was the first time the Town of Westlake has received this recognition.
The Achievement of Excellence Award recognizes the statutory requirements and demands for the effective management of resources for proper governance by the municipal clerk's office. The award itself recognizes municipal clerk's offices throughout the state for compliance with federal, state, and local statutes that govern standards necessary to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office. A municipal clerk's office must have met and demonstrated nine of 12 standards including records Management, Professional Development, government transparency, elections, awards, public information act, open meetings act, boards & commissions, policies and procedures, innovation, and training.
