The Town Council serves as the governing body for the Town of Westlake. Members of this governing body also serve as the Board of Trustees for Westlake Academy.
Laura Wheat, Mayor Born in 1957, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Education: Ohio University, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa (AB, 1979); University of Maryland School of Law, Law Review (JD, with honors, 1982). Married to Doug Wheat. Two adult children and two school age, both of whom are enrolled at Westlake Academy, the Wheat family’s school of choice. Lived in Dallas for 23 years before moving to Westlake in 2005. Practiced securities law for 10 years. Active in the not-for-profit community and currently serves as co-chair of the capital campaign for the Westlake Academy Arts and Sciences Building, Board Chair of Gilda’s Club Worldwide, and member of the board of Gilda’s Club North Texas. Past involvement includes Board Chair of Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, St. Philip’s School and Community Center and Gilda’s Club North Texas. Vision for Westlake: "To be the best small town in Texas"; one that is a standard bearer and is emulated throughout Texas and elsewhere for its commitment to community, education, lifelong learning and the environment.
Larry Corson, Mayor Pro-Tem Born 1960 in San Mateo, CA.Education: High Point University (BS, 1982) and Columbia University (MBA, 1984).Married to Michelle; two children, Rachel and Ben, both of whom have completed the PYP program at Westlake Academy.One of the first residents of the Vaquero community.Currently, Senior Vice President of Hunt Realty Corporation, which is the real estate arm of Hunt Oil Company owned by Ray Hunt and his family.Past member of the Westlake Planning and Zoning Commission.Vice Chairman of the Community Development Council of the Urban Land Institute.Vision for Westlake:Uphold the promise of value in Westlake, value in its quality of community, its adherence to smart growth principles, and its commitment to a school of excellence.
Carol Langdon Born in 1962 in Long Island, New York. Education: Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut (BS 1984). Married to Charlie Langdon for 18 years with three children. Resident of the Glenwyck Farms subdivision in Westlake since moving to Texas in late 2004. Worked in the Telecommunications Industry for 17 years, which included AT&T and the evolution of companies of NYNEX/Bell Atlantic to Verizon. Community involvement includes: Past Vice President of the inaugural Public Arts Society of Westlake; Co-Chairwoman of the Gallery Night Auction at Westlake Academy & Arbor Day Volunteer Coordinator. Vision for Westlake: to enhance and strengthen the pride and connection that people feel for Westlake, while maintaining its bucolic beauty.
Rick Rennhack Born in 1966 in Berea, Ohio. Education: Southern Methodist University (BBA Finance, BA Economics 1988). Married Leah Humphrey Rennhack in 1990. All four of our children are enrolled at Westlake Academy. Moved to Texas in 1971, grew up in Tarrant County, and graduated from Northwest High School in 1984. Went to work for family business, Rennhack Marketing Services, in 1988, became National Sales Manager in 1990, and President and CEO in 1999. Rennhack Marketing Services was named to the Dallas 100™ (an annual awards event that identifies and honors the 100 fastest-growing privately held companies in the Dallas area) in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Currently, Operating Partner for Furniture Factory Warehouse, a Transition Capital Partners portfolio company. Moved to Westlake in 2000. Past involvements include President of Westlake Academy Foundation, Westlake Planning and Zoning Commissioner, and head leader for Young Life at Southlake Carroll High School. Other interests include ranching, fly fishing and running.
