TEXAS STUDENT HOUSING AUTHORITY helps you pay for your college education.
Texas high school or Texas community college graduates can receive up to $10,000 in housing scholarships over the next 4 years.
You are eligible to receive $2500 per year for your TSH housing scholarship.
TSH has offered young Texas men and women over 1800 of our one-year lodging scholarships. A number of these are renewals for up to 4 years.
The Texas Student Housing Authority has significantly expanded the value of our scholarship offerings by including college students already enrolled as well as current graduates of all Texas high schools and community colleges who can meet our criteria.
COMMUNITY COLLEGE GRADUATES are especially encouraged to apply as they have already proven to be good college level students.
This $2500 scholarship offer is for housing in TSH off campus dormitories in AUSTIN, COLLEGE STATION, and DENTON. Freshmen at TWU are required to live on campus unless they are granted a waiver by the university.
At the onset of the TSH Scholarship Program, we sponsored graduating seniors in the Southlake Carroll, Keller and Northwest Independent School Districts that educate the young people of the Town of Westlake. In 2003 we expanded the offer to many communities in North Texas, and in 2004 we further expanded geographically to include our entire state and offered scholarships in all 1370 Texas high schools.
As a cost example, if the normal retail cost of a bed/room is $5,000 per-year, the TSH scholarship will pay $2,500 and the student will pay the remaining $2,500 cost. The retail cost varies depending on the facility/ university the student selects and the room assigned by the Property Manager, so the amount the student pays is different for each case. In most cases the retail cost is less than $5,000. The only constant is the $ 2,500 scholarship per-year.
Students accepting a first year scholarship are required to submit a $250 good faith deposit as a non-refundable down payment that is applied toward the TSH administrative costs. This $250 deposit is subtracted from the student administrative cost and does not change the $2,500 scholarship value.
Scholarship requirements set by the TSH Board of Directors are as follows:
General Scholarship: Top 25% of the class, 3.0 GPA. SAT I: desired 1100/required 1050. SAT II: desired 1650/required 1575.
Provisional Scholarship, Top 50%, 2.5 GPA, SAT I: 1000, SAT II: 1500. Provisionals are dependent on performance, and provide an opportunity to a wider section of our population.
All awards are competitive, are at the discretion of TSH, based on evaluated leadership, service and recommendations, and are dependent on space available at each facility.
