Emergency Medical Services

Available Services
The Westlake Fire / EMS Department provides paramedic level ambulance service to the citizens of Westlake and those that work in the many businesses located in our community.  Only emergency ambulance services can be provided.
Note: Westlake Fire / EMS cannot transport patients to a doctor’s office, a clinic or a nursing home.

The Westlake Fire / EMS Department staffs a Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) with two EMT / paramedics, as well as an engine company that includes advanced life support capabilities with one or two paramedics. Both of the units contain state-of-the-art equipment for emergency medical care. We also utilize the services provided by air ambulance companies such as Careflite and P.H.I.
About our Medical Director
The Westlake Fire / EMS Department operates under the South Denton County Medical Control Group, led by John H. Ansohn, DO, FAAFP, FACEP (pictured at left).

Dr. Ansohn is the first and only EMS medical director for the Town of Westlake. His medical career began when he served as a Navy corpsman during the Vietnam War era. He has been an EMS medical director for 24 years. Dr. Ansohn retired from the Army Reserve as Colonel after 28 years. He currently works in the Emergency Department at Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine.  In 2004, Dr. Ansohn was named the Fort Worth Business Press Health Hero.
