The Schilsky family of Glenwyck Farms has partnered with Carter Blood Care, the Town of Westlake Fire Department, and Fire Chief Richard Whitten to host our second annual Westlake neighborhood blood drive on Saturday, 10/30/21, at the Westlake Fire Station. You probably are aware that there is a dire shortage of blood and blood products in our community. This has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. We need your help! This will be a socially distanced blood drive.
The benefits of donating are enormous: you help the community, you get a mini-physical exam, you will find out your blood pressure, cholesterol, iron, blood type, AND you get a FREE COVID-19 antibody test to see if you have antibodies and have been exposed to the virus.
Sign up to donate blood Saturday 10/30/21 at the Westlake Fire Station, 2000 Dove Road, Westlake.
Please sign up for a 15-minute slot. It only takes 30 minutes to donate blood, and there are so many benefits! To donate blood, bring a photo ID. You just need to be 16 years old with a signed parental consent form (attached below), or 17 y/o without consent. By adding your email address to the signup, Carter will send you an email at 12:01 am the morning of the drive (10/30/21) that you can fill out and return. These are the questions that Carter normally asks donors. By filling this out, you can save up to 15 minutes of your donation time. Click on the link below to sign up:
A QR Code to sign up to donate blood is attached below. It will take you directly to the Sign-up page and you can select the time you want to donate!
We also need volunteers to assist at the blood drive. See the signup genius link below. For on-site volunteering, you can donate 2 hours of your day for a very worthy cause to staff the front desk and check in the blood drive donors. This slot could be filled by a teenager and/or adult. If you're a parent and want to volunteer with your child, that would be a wonderful learning opportunity! Feel free to get into the Halloween spirit and wear a costume, if you are so inclined (but this is not required).
For off-site volunteering, you can donate 1-2 dozen homemade baked goods for our blood donors and blood drive volunteers to enjoy. Please just label what you bring with the ingredients (ie. +/- nuts).
If you have any questions or would like to assist, please reach out to us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Last year, we had over 30 donors. Each donation saves 3 lives, so we were able to save over 90 lives! Let's beat that this year!
This blood drive is not sponsored by the neighborhood HOA, we are simply informing you of an opportunity to volunteer or donate, should you choose to do so.
