Security Alert: Residents to practice caution due to escaped convict last seen in surrounding area
The Town of Westlake would like to alert our residents to please practice extreme caution while entering/exiting your homes, make sure your doors are locked while home and away, and please be sure to set your alarm systems when leaving your home. Do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 should you witness any suspicious activity.
A manhunt is still underway for an escaped Miami prisoner, who has possibly been seen in our surrounding area. Area police along with U.S. Marshals are involved in the search for the escapee Alberto Morales (DOB 9/11/1971-41 years old). He escaped last night under Miami-Dade police custody from the Grapevine Wal-Mart. Keller PD has provided the photo at right, along with this description: Morales is described as being about 5-feet-7 and 175 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He is possibly wearing prescription glasses, dark shorts-blue, a grey hoodie, and one prison-issued Velcro tennis shoe.
Please know that Keller Police are patrolling Westlake more heavily during this time, as well as Westlake Academy- currently under a soft lock-down security measure. Additionally, the Westlake Town Marshal has been assigned to Westlake Academy for the day and as long as needed.
