Public Information and Submitting a Request

The Public Information Act ("Act") provides the public with the right to request access to government records for inspection or to obtain copies (a fee applies). The Act requires that the Town provide access or copies of requested records in a "prompt" manner. The Act further states, "promptly means that a governmental body may take a reasonable amount of time to produce the information but may not delay." 

A response to any request will be acknowledged, if not answered, within ten business days of receipt of the original request, or we will refer the request to the Attorney General of the State of Texas for a determination. Please be aware that the Act does not require a governmental body to create new information, conduct legal research, or answer questions. Please be very specific when describing the records being requested.  

A request of "any and/or all" will require clarification of your request and delay the final response to your request.

*The Town of Westlake contracts for police protection services with the City of Keller Police Department so Traffic Accident Reports should be requested from them directly.
