Running for Election to Office

The Town of Westlake holds a General Election on the first Saturday of May each year to elect members for two-year terms. The Office of Mayor, Council Member Place 2 and Council Member Place 4 are elected even years.  Council Member Place 1, Council Member Place 3 and Council Member Place 5 are elected odd years.  Special Elections will be called and held as needed to fill Town Council vacancies, unexpired terms or to consider special propositions. All elected officials are selected “at-large”, meaning they do not serve a specific geographical area of Town, but serve all. To be elected to an office of the Town of Westlake, a person must receive more votes for the designated place than any other person for the office (plurality vote required).
