Westlake residents now have an additional choice when it comes to deciding where to send their kids to school. At the Monday, March 27 Carroll ISD School Board meeting, the board approved updating their policies to allow all Westlake residents, not just those zoned for Carroll ISD, to request to enroll in the district.
Depending on where you live in Westlake, your address could be zoned for Keller ISD, Northwest ISD, or Carroll ISD. Carroll ISD will now allow students residing in a part of town zoned for a different school district to enroll in Carroll ISD for the 2023-2024 school year. Parents must complete an application and seats will be filled upon availability.
Families will not be charged tuition but must provide their own transportation. The Texas Education Code requires that every district offering open enrollment must also have an annual reapplication requirement. This means students will have to reapply each school year.
The open enrollment application period is April 17 through May 5, 2023. Interested families are invited to attend “Be a Dragon Night” on April 13 at Carroll Senior High from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and can find out more information by filling out an interest form at: https://bit.ly/CISDopenenrollment
